If you live anywhere near Cooper River Park or come to run, walk, bike or boat, you’ve no doubt watched the former Lobster Trap restaurant site for signs of new life.
The Lobster Trap closed in the summer of 2013.
In August 2014, Camden County officials announced plans to open a new restaurant at that location in partnership with the KTMK Group, led by longtime restaurateur Kevin Meeker, owner of Westmont’s Keg & Kitchen.
On Thursday morning, Meeker sat at a table gazing out onto the Cooper River with county officials and restaurant employees, reflecting on the path that got him here in a unique partnership meant to provide affordable family dining as a key draw for families to enjoy all the park has to offer. It will also no doubt prove a hot spot for the thousands of rowers who attend regattas on what is the third most popular river for crew in the country….
